Political Engagement – Understanding political engagement requires to define politics. Politics, as I take it, is the synthesis of law, government, civic, and pupils. Political engagement, thus, is how one individual chooses to act within this synthesis. It could include, but not limited to, active participation within the government agencies, voting, protesting, or through artwork. Political engagement is the awareness of the issues at stake, taking a stance, and choosing to place yourself within the process. This past election cycle has shown the various ways of political engagement, from the many marches, protests, t-shits, satire shows, films, photography, resistance within the government agencies, and of course, tweets from the president himself. Political engagement is being an active participant in society, understanding positionality, and what we view as justice or moral viewpoints.
